Introduction
The Au Pair program is one of the Exchange Visitor Programs hosted by the U.S. Department of State.
Au pairs enter the American family and become a member of the family, immersing themselves in the American family and continuing their studies. American families can trust their children to the care of au pairs.
Au pairs and families are in a relationship of mutual benefit and help.
Before starts
1. Strict personal survey of participants:
Due to the nature of living at home, the personal investigation of the participant is very strict: the participant needs to pass the background investigation of the school, three nonfamily members and colleagues, a criminal record investigation, and a personality test.
2. Participants and American families will sign a mutually agreed treaty.
3. Participants will receive at least 32 hours of childcare orientation.
During
1. Provide up to 10 hours a day/45 hours a week of childcare.
2. Complete at least six hours of academic credit or equivalent in formal educational settings at an accredited U.S. post-secondary educational institution.
