Introduction
The Teacher Program is one of the Exchange Visitor Programs hosted by the U.S. Department of State.
The program gives exchange teachers the opportunity to teach in accredited primary and secondary schools in the United States.
Through this program, exchange teachers can improve their teaching skills, participate in cross-cultural school community activities, and share their experiences and fruition after returning to their home country.
Have the qualification to teach in primary or secondary schools in the home country;
Bachelor's degree in pedagogy or the teaching subject;
More than two years of teaching experience or relevant professional experience;
Professional working proficiency in English;
Before starts:
1. Understand the program and sign up
2. Oral English test
3. Sign agreement/Payment
4. Submit application materials
5. Match position/Interview
6. Receive job offer/Issue DS-2019 form
7. J-1 visa Orientation/Appointment
8. Visit the nearest U.S. Consulate
9. Pre-arrival Orientation/air ticket Purchase
During:
1. Log in to the SEVIS system as soon as you arrive in the United States.
2. Get your Social Security Number which is proof of legal work.
Exchange teachers should hold activities to spread their own culture in American schools or communities every year, so that Chinese and American peers can exchange and talk.
When you encounter any problems in the United States, please talk to your employer and sponsor in a timely manner.
After the completion of the program, participants return to their home country and obtain the program certificate issued by FlyingSheep.
Q: Can my spouse and/or children go to America together?
A: Yes. Your spouse and/or children must obtain a J-2 visa, and U.S. laws require that J-2 visa holders must purchase medical and accident insurance and cannot work in the United States.
Q: Will I be picked up after arrival?
A: Before departure, participants will communicate with their employers about airport pickup.
Q: Can I participate again after the completion of the program?
A: Yes. After returning to China for two years after the completion of the program, you can continue to participate, or apply for a waiver during the program.
