The Camp Counselor USA Program is a cultural exchange initiative designated by the U.S. Department of State. Participants enter the United States on a J-1 visa to serve as camp counselors or support staff at American summer camps. You will receive training, live and interact with campers from around the world, and lead them in a wide variety of camp activities.
Key Responsibilities:Organize and supervise campers in outdoor, sports, and cultural activities.Care for campers’ daily needs and foster a safe, engaging camp environment.
Participate in camp training to develop leadership, teamwork, and practical skills.
Sample Activities (over 80 types may include):Hiking, climbing, water sports, horseback riding, archery, arts & crafts, performances, and more—specific activities vary by camp.
Program Duration:Starts between May and June, lasting approximately 2 months.
Eligibility:Must be at least 18 years old; open to college students (undergraduate, graduate), young professionals, teachers, or skilled individuals.Strong English communication skills required to interact comfortably with American youth.

Many camps offer airport pickup services or provide reimbursement for reasonable round-trip transportation costs from the airport to the camp.
