The program was first introduced to mainland China in 2006. Since then, it has enabled tens of thousands of Chinese university students and young adults to participate in cultural exchange in the United States each year on a J-1 visa.
The J-1 visa, officially designated as a cultural exchange visa, is specifically intended for individuals participating in approved exchange visitor programs in the United States.
In an era where studying abroad has become commonplace, U.S. work experience distinguishes your resume from countless others, demonstrating initiative and practical skills highly valued by future employers.
This represents a transformative life experience that signifies courage, independence, and self-improvement. It broadens your perspective and enhances comprehensive personal qualities through challenging yet rewarding immersion.
Daily existence in a fully English-speaking environment provides unparalleled opportunity for rapid improvement in practical language application and fluency.
Working in the United States offers genuine, immersive exposure to American society, enabling deep appreciation of its culture and customs from within.
Collaborate alongside American and international colleagues, establishing meaningful connections and gaining firsthand understanding of diverse global perspectives.
Throughout the program, dedicated J-1 coordinators located near all participant placements assume full responsibility for student welfare. Participants can contact the 24/7 emergency hotline at any time for immediate assistance. Additionally, the 24/7 U.S. Government J-1 Safety Helpline is available at 1-866-283-9090 or via email at jvisas@state.gov.
Each participant is assigned a professional advisor who provides end-to-end guidance—from program entry until return to their home country. Participants are encouraged to report any issues directly to their advisor for prompt resolution. For increased efficiency, multi-channel communication of concerns is recommended during the U.S. stay.
Legal and Labor Protections
All J-1 participants are entitled to the same legal and labor protections as U.S. citizens throughout their stay.
In many popular J-1 regions, long-established community organizations actively welcome and support incoming J-1 students each year, offering additional assistance and resources as needed.
Each host employer undergoes strict screening by both the U.S. Department of State-designated foundation and the program sponsor, including on-site visits, to ensure legitimacy and quality. Formal offers are extended only after successful interviews, with clear communication regarding position details.
Comprehensive insurance is provided for the entire program duration.
